Sent To Test Us

Life can be tricky some times.

This we all know, but no matter how many times are parents tell us, choose wisely, watch your back and the old reliable 'Are you sure?...'

When something happens that gets you down, it sucks, right down to the pit of your stomach.

While we need to shake off the little stuff, like getting a parking ticket, finding out the movie you wanted at the rental place is sold out or getting caught in the rain without an umbrella (which I happen to like, and tend to do my best Singing in the Rain impression, Gene Kelly eat your heart out!)

But sometimes the big things might get to us - an earth shaking moment hits you like a surprise bus, knocking you for ten and shaking you to the core

I believe in theses kind of times in the Lorelai Gilmore method - its ok to wallow. Sometimes, you just need a bit of time to cry, eat some junk food and forget your troubles in a Jonny Depp film.

...Thats Captain Jack Sparrow.

This in mine and the Gilmore's book is ok, for a day or so after that its time to start saying this in your head

Over and Over and Over again until you believe it.

Jump out of bed the next day, put on Bruno Mar's Treasure, dance while eating your eggs, put on your best outfit, and strut your way out the door and down the street.

My friends come to me with problems all the time for advice and tips, and since all of you are my internet buddies feel free to send me any questions you might have and I'll try and help as much as I can, you can find my email in the 'Contact Me' section of the blog.

...Now excuse me, I better go turn down Bruno before my neighbours call the police!

Have a Great Day Everyone!

Wise Words From Rosie

I have always been a fan of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

I mean just look at the girl she is simply stunning and the image of British Class.

But who knew she was this wise.

Just last week the British Vogue Facebook page posted a status with these prudent words from the lady herself  -  "Success takes drive, balls, attitude, humour, manners, tact, wit, confidence, fearlessness, opinions"

Well I for one could not agreed more with Miss Whiteley!

So with these words in mind go forth and rock this week :)

Care to Share

I heard the most mind opening thing last night. Which of course I will now share with you!

Here is a little food for thought for your week - "Scandal is nothing more than gossip masquerading as news."

sssshhhhh!

Quite mind blowing right?

Why not think about this the next time a friends runs to you saying they have the biggest scandal to tell you -  I intend to.

A Left My Heart At Sea

I know I'm not alone in this opinion but I love being near water; the sea, a lake, a large enough pond; I'm there.

I used to surf and at a time worked in a Surf School, and one of my biggest regrets is that I never learned to sail, perhaps one day. But, for now I'm a swimmer not a sailor.

Ever since I was a child I loved swimming and being in the water. At the time my favourite movie was The Little Mermaid and I figured since she came out of the water and gained feet, if I stayed in the water long enough I might just get fins! Not being one to give up, I would stay in a pool for 6 hours at a time till I looked more like an 80 year old than an 8 year old! and was being dragged out by my mum.

Alas no fins, probably a good thing really, scales would have been very hard to accessorise!

Since then I have lived by the sea (sadly only for a couple of years, but one day I hope I'll return to salt stained windows. Fingers Crossed!)

But when I was there I loved staring out at the tides, and those of you that have checked out my tumblr page will know I reblog pictures of it all the time.

The movement of waves can be so hypnotic and peaceful at times, Next time your at the seaside I beg you to just sit silently and just stare out and listen.

Tell All Smile

Do you like to play poker?

I do, I don't understand it completely and have only ever played it after several drinks.

I have won hands before but when it came up in conversation recently I was told I would be awful at it sober. When I inquired why, I was told very simply - "Your smile."

Apparently I have a tell tale smile!

This whole time I might have thought I was being sneaky, all my friends and family knew!

My Mum says she has no problem knowing if I'm up to something cheeky because I will be written right across my face.

My dumb luck I guess.

While I thought I was just at a loss with my sneaking around, at a party recently after talking to a guy I liked, one of my dear friends said I have a flirt smile too! Though I don't think the guy in question noticed.

Granted I'm sure it's nothing as good as Ms Jolie above, But I girl can hope right!?

So I resign to my fate, I am an open book of sorts but just in case you can't tell my smile; Take it as fact that from this day forward...

Do you have any tell tale traits?

Comment and let me know, we can be open books together!

Falling for Fall

I like summer I do, ice cream, long bright evenings and BBQs; Its great and lots of fun.

But I was watching one of my favourite movies this weekend 'You've got Mail'. A Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks classic in my books. And Hank's character Joe Fox says one thing at the beginning of the movie that I just love "Don't you just love New York in the Fall, it makes me want to run out and buy school supplies"

And it reminded me of the wonderful spring I have in my step when I feel the first chill in the air and the leaves starting to change colours.

Ever since I was little I always used to think leaves changing colour was sort of like Mother Nature picking back up a paintbrush after a long absence. She's so excited she uses a million different colours all in one scene.

Aside from the trees, fall brings about so many other great things. Tons of new coffee flavours to try,

great books to read (or rereading your favourites ), the return of all the best TV Shows to our screens - Greys Anatomy, White Collar, Revenge - I'm looking at you guys! I mean who doesn't enjoy watching Matt Bomer solve crimes beside a roaring fire.

And big comfy sweaters to snuggle up in *I'll be loading some tips of the sweater trade soon, so keep posted :)

What are you're favourite things about Fall/Autumn ?

I'm always eager for new fun stuff to do this time of year.

Welcome!

A new start in life deserves to be documented.

So with that in mind, I welcome you to my new little corner of the big wide inter web!

As my friends will confirm, I am a dreamer. So ever since I heard this quote and and saw this movie I've been in love with this line.

And when you read it, its is absolutely mandatory to read it in Tom Hardy's delicious accent!

But in all seriousness, it is so true. Don't let anyone ever tell you your dream is too big or silly. It's your dream not theirs.

So go out, chase your dream. Believe me, it won't come find you. Maybe it might not come true, but you won't know until you try.

But, in your free time, come back and visit me!

This blog will be a place for my wanderings, travels and day to day tips and treats.

You never know what I'll get up to next!
