I'D WEAR | 1 | SUNDAY BRUNCH

I've decided to start a new series for the bloggo, something that I can pop up every week or two for you guys to keep some stuff rocking up in this house.

So, as you guys may have guessed I'm a big ol' internet shopper and online troll. I spend tons of time looking and lusting over online shopping. I mean I can do it on a wednesday night in my pyjamas curled up on the sofa with my puppies... what's not to love!?

So each week I'm gonna pop up my favourites online finds from the week or possible outfit ideas for the season or different occasions.

This for a casual friday drinks in a bar with an outdoor area, or perhaps for a Sunday brunch.
I love this time of year when you can start to bring back colour into your every day wardrobe. Just makes everything a little brighter and happier.

Miss You Granny.

So this is post quite near and dear to my heart. And I one I juggled with posting with for a while.
I saw this post on Facebook I while ago and it really struck me, and led to some serious thoughts.

Now I thought about Poets, Writers, Great Rulers, Celebrities and even those I have in my life now and don't get to see as often as I'd like.

But I came to one very clear conclusion my Grandmother, well, my other Grandmother. She died when I was 16, it's the anniversary of her death this weekend, so I'm thinking about her quite a bit. People say I'm very much like her. I also grew up with her living down the hall from me, teaching me to knit, playing cards with me and playing chart radio at top volume, which I think gave me my love for loud music that no one else in my family has.

She was a terrific, strong and modern minded Lady would I miss a great deal and I would give anything to talk to for another hour - To tell about what's happening in my life, ask for her advice and tell all about the little boy and girl (my little brother and sister) she didn't get to meet and whom I know she'd love to pieces.

It's a great question to ask yourself and put somethings in perspective, so do tell, if you could spend time with anyone you wanted for an hour... Who would you chose?

Smoothie Nation

  • Everyone wants to be healthy. Its a simple fact but so many of us do unhealthy things that could be simply changed for the better everyday. And one of the most common unhealthy thing people do everyday is skipping breakfast, and no coffee doesn't count at breakfast...I checked.

  • I whole heartedly raise my hand as a guilty party on this one. I would give my left leg for an extra 15 minutes in bed so breakfast for me is usually the first thing to slide. But it is so bad for you, it slows down your metabolisms and has been proven that people that eat breakfast are more productive and are more personable (e.g those who eat a healthy breakfast are a lot nicer than those of us who scoff a doughnut at the train station and want to die once the sugar has worn off by 10.30am.)

  • But what should someone do who wants the time under the duvet but also the health benefits of a good heathy breakfast. Now ideally we should be have some kind of protein at breakfast but I personally don't like first thing when I wake up, but I think I've found a good compromise. Enter the smoothies!

  • Fruit is great to eat in the morning and puts your body into drive super first thing. Though it doesn't have protein you can add different health store bought powders, seeds, etc to increase the smoothie power based on your own needs; maybe more energy, vitamin C, or Flaxseed is a great addition to any smoothie.

  • I love this Berry one as my go-to weekday one -

  • Berry Flaxseed Blast
  • 2 tablespoons whole flaxseeds
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup nonfat vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup unsweetened frozen mixed berries or blueberries
  • 1 small banana, sliced

  • I might keep this Mango one till the weekend as there is more ingredients and prep involved.

    1 cup chopped ripe mango
    • 1/2 cup mango sorbet
    • 1/4 cup skim milk
    • 2 tablespoons honey
    • 2 teaspoons lime juice
    • 1/4 cup crushed ice
    • 2 mango slices, 1/2-inch thick
    • 1 lime slice

This Strawberry one actually remind me of childhood and a smoothies my mum used to make. Super easy and a nice change to have during the week.

1 quart (4 cups) ripe strawberries
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 thin orange slices (optional)

  • Super easy, and it you want maximum time in bed then simply buy your chosen fruit in bulk & pop them in the freezer, then pick out just what you need the night before and leave in your blender over night and just push a button in the morning and pour. And you'll have a lovely chilled smoothie the next day. It's really is that easy!

Would this be something you'd try in the morning ? And if so, do you have any smoothie recipes to pass on??

Dating Past that needs to be future

So when I went to University, I met tons of new people, as one always does at Uni but quickly fell in with my classmates and we formed a group of sorts. One of these new classmates was my Russian Friend Alex.
One of the first weekends I was going home I was in such huge hurry to catch my bus after my afternoon classes I brought my weekend bag with me.
Alex saw my carrying it along with books, etc and insisted on carrying it for me, to and from all our afternoon classes AND to the bus station after.
He was a true gentleman and had no hidden agenda.
But of course in our modern world that's exactly what I thought at first.

Afterwards I was thinking about this, and how sad it was that in our modern world these kind of gestures are lost in the commonplace or misunderstood.

So I'm putting a motion out to all my readers, male and female, to try bring back these 10 Old-Fashioned and I hope soon to be modern dating customs.

10 Old Fashioned Dating Habits We Should Make Cool Again

    1. Coming to the door to pick someone up.
(Honk your horn at me, and no date for you.)

    2. Trying to dress really nicely for a date.
(Wear a shirt, a dress, shine your shoes, wear lipstick, just make an effort. It shows the other person you care.)

    3. Bring flowers or other tokens of affection to the first date.
(From one girl to all the male population, bringing flowers is a simple task, that sets you out of the starting gate on a perfect note.)

    4. Going dancing that’s not grinding on a grimy club floor.
(There is a reason that most girls love all the men on Strictly come dancing. Get clued up gentlemen.)

    5. Straightforwardly asking someone out and not calling it “hanging out.”
('Would you like to go out on a Date with me?' Don't fear these words, embrace them.)

    6. Additionally, being clear about when you’re “going steady.”
(If you don't want to be with anyone else, dating, dancing or anything else, then don't just say it SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS.)

    7. Romantic gestures like writing poems.
(So writing poems may not be my personal thing, but in turn perhaps just texting someone asking how their day went goes a long way, it's all about the little gestures)

    8. Turning electronics off and just being with one another.
(Candy crush, that last email or text can wait and yes Facebook will still be alive in a couple of hours.)

    9. The general concept of asking permission for things.
(Pretty much self explanatory, just for heavens sake...BE POLITE.)

    10. Not assuming sex is to be had at any point in time.
(Follow the steps above and chances are, you'll get to this cross roads anyway, so no need to force the car up the hill. It'll get there at a steady pace once you take your time. And, when the lights go green, believe us you'll know. )

*I originally found this list on Tumblr, and modified it slightly for B.A.S

See Stefan Salvatore gets it! The perfect opening note to be smooth as a fine wine.

    S'Mores

I am extremely lucking that most of my friends like me, have a great sweet tooth. So when we get together it's time to indulge! After all everyone deserves a treat every now and again

The name of the game this time was S'mores!

Marshmallows, Biscuit and Chocolate is all you need for this one, its that simple!

I'll give you a second to clean up your drool.

    1. Get your plain biscuit, a square of chocolate (or perhaps some of the leftover Easter Egg?) and a marshmallow or two and
    2. Pile them on top of each each other
    3. Pop onto a tray
    4. And into the oven they go!

Cook till chocolate is melted and marshmallows and gooey and golden brown.

What you get, should be chewy, soft, super sweet and all around indulgent pleasure.

Serve with milk or as we did, with some Prosecco and don't forget the most important accompaniment... giggling, marshmallow mouthed friends.

    Enjoy!

*Also a perfect treat for the coming weekend!

    Spring into Style

Everyone, are you all as excited as me that it's Spring time and Easter.

But when the Sun comes out and I see the bight colours everywhere I just want to bulldoze my closet and start again.

And if I could, I know exactly where I would start, River Island.

Their new collection is beautiful and to put it simply I want it all! Florals, bright & dusty pinks, boyfriend jeans and eyelet shirts, sign me up on the dotted line.

Sadly my wallet doesn't support these kind of dreams so I'll have to adore from afar.

    Birthday Dinner | Paris

As you guys may know I was in Paris for my 21st Birthday!

The night of my birthday, we all put on our glad rags and headed down to Le Grand Colbert

You all may remember if from the amazing film 'Somethings Gotta Give', its one of my favourite films so while I was in Paris, I had to go there. After all Diane Keaton celebrated her Birthday there!

The food was delicious and super rich, and the booze flowed.
As you might guess we were quite a happy bunch.

Then all of a sudden, french waiters surrounded me sining and I was facing a massively fantastic sparkler.

Sadly the cake was a fake, just a prop for birthday celebration.
Though honestly I didn't mind I was so full my the main course.

But I did indulge in the signature hot chocolate.
And boy, oh boy did it impress.
Your own little set of ingredients ready to go, and make the hot chocolate exactly as you desire it.
    So indulgent, so worth it.

The night was s much fun and many, many...many drinks were had.

So muh so that when I took a peak at my camera the next morning I found over 200 'post night out, fashion shoot' picture.

The process of choosing which to put up here was a little like Goldie Locks and The Three Bears... too hot, too funny and too blurry.

But here are the finalists... Enjoy!

    I made a gif...I made a gif! hehe :)

Paris | Museum Nissim De Camondo

As some of you may know I'm a fan of The Londoner and the last time she was in Paris, she spoke of going to this museum, that well... wasn't really a museum, more of a wonderfully restored 18th Century Parisian Townhouse.

And that place was Nissim de Camondo

Open to the public to walk around, enjoy and admire.

For a person like me, with loves like Interior Design and Downton Abbey, I was in there like swimwear.

The place appears, exactly as though the family has simply stepped out for a moment. Letting you have a peak in their home, while there run errands.

    I spy a hidden room!

A little information on the place...

Moise de Camondo, a wealthy french banker and owner of the home,  had hoped to one day leave the house to his son Nissim,  but sadly Nissim died during WW1.
After the loss of his son, Moise decided to donate the house in its entirety to the French state, on the condition that they would leave it as it was and allow others to enjoy it.
They opened it as a museum the year after MoĆse de Camondo died in 1935. Tragically however, the family died out. They were Jewish, and the French handed them over to the Nazis during WW2.
None of the Camondo clan survived WW2. The house stands, not just as a museum of French history, but as a memory to them and other families who were lost in the war.

We strolled in and out of grand parlours and bedroom, at our leisure and away from the tourist track.
It was bliss and peaceful and I would whole-heartedly recommend a trip to Musee Nissim De Camondo to anyone.

    Lunch at Ralphs

Imagine a grand mansion-like townhouse, with a private courtyard, american style and covered in Ralph Lauren cushions and comfort.

Well that's what Ralph's, Ralph Lauren's Restaurant in Paris is in a pinch.

And, I was right there ready to soak it in.

With drinks and champagne all round, it was time for some grub!

We ordered a bevy of goodies; cobb salads, burgers, club sandwiches and much more and all delectable.

The salty 'bucket' fries, I have to say hit the spot for me.

I also had a sneaky slice of key lime pie, it had a mouth watering zing  and was refreshingly after the 'all-american' lunch we had.

But, one of the best bits for me and I know might think me silly on this one, was the coffee and wait for it... toffee popcorn... with coffee! I was a happy ducky on this one.

And, how cute are those espresso cups. You know I'm a sucker for blue and white.

Now, time to walk off that lunch!

    To the museum we go..

*If any of you are thinking of heading to Ralph's for lunch, remember to book first. Im not sure they take walk-ins and better safe than sorry, seeing as I went on a Wednesday and it was totally full!
